Iowa Soybean President Hoping Court Rules In Favor Of EPA’s Approval Of Lorsban

Several environmental groups aren’t happy the EPA has not banned the insecticide Chlorpyrifos, also known as Lorsban. They’ve filed petitions asking the U.S. Court of Appeals to review the agency’s decision. Iowa Soybean Association President Lindsay Greiner says Lorsban is perfectly safe despite what the environmental groups charge and that producers have used it for years without any problems.

He says those who apply the product have been licensed to do and are being environmentally responsible in how they use it.

Greiner says the Trump administration’s EPA has followed sound science with their decisions and been more friendly to agriculture than those agencies in the past.

The environmental groups are complaining that chlorpyrifos is unsafe, especially for children and needs to be banned.
