The U.S. Department of Agriculture is expected to unveil details of its trade aid package possibly as early as Friday. Iowa Soybean Association President Bill Shipley says the best they can hope for is some mitigating help to assist farmers in reaching break even levels on their operations.

He says lenders are getting quite concerned about the farm economy and the tariff impacts.

Shipley is also hoping U.S. and Chinese negotiators make progress with their discussions about the current trade war and find some possible ways to resolve it.

Shipley says trade issues are complicated and involve more than just agriculture so it could take some time to iron out a positive agreement.
