Iowa Senators Chuck Grassley and Joni Ernst are concerned about the accuracy of maps compiled to show rural broadband access. Grassley says they’ve written to the Federal Communications Commission stating its critical for broadband maps to be improved so public and private partners have the access to accurate data needed to bridge the digital divide.

Grassley points to the rural Iowa county of Chickasaw where FCC data indicates only 5.9 percent of residents have access to broadband internet services.

Grassley also points out in his letter to the FCC that broadband access is a vital link to a range of necessary services and resources for rural America. These include business and economic activity, education access and providing healthcare in a flexible, efficient and cost-effective way.
