Last week, the House passed the REINS Act, Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny Act. The measure requires Congressional approval for any new administrative rule projected to cost the economy more than $100 million annually. Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley says he’ll work hard for passage of the REINS Act in the Senate although it’ll likely face an uphill climb.
He says the REINS Act ensures Congressional intent is followed when regulations are passed.
Grassley who wants to see the REINS Act approved and regulations rolled back like the Waters of the U.S. Rule says the most effective way to achieve defeat of WOTUS may be through the new administration backing away from it in Court.
The REINS Act that recently passed the House did so on a 237 to 187 vote. That same measure was tried three times before in the Senate and was defeated each time.
