The Senate is scheduled to vote on the farm bill sent to them by the Agriculture Committee on Friday. Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley says at that time, he’ll offer his payment limit amendment that he wasn’t able to get offered during committee markup.
He says a procedural snag kept him from offering his amendment during committee consideration.
Grassley says as long as Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell allows an open process then he’ll get his amendment offered.
Grassley’s payment limit provision calls for only a person who’s actively engaged in farming to receive government farm payments. It also limits $125,000 per recipient and places a hard cap on payments.
