Iowa Senator Skeptical About Chances For TPP Approval

Senate Finance Chairman Orrin Hatch indicated recently there might be progress that could advance the TPP talks. Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley however doesn’t see it coming up for debate or even possible passage unless the President submits it to Congress. He doesn’t think that’ll happen before the election.

He says if President Obama decides to go ahead anyway and submit the TPP to Congress then the ball is placed in Congress’s court.

Grassley says any middle ground found on intellectual property could be helpful in pushing debate on TPP forward.

Previously both Presidential Candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump have come out opposed to the Trans Pacific Partnership.
