At the end of this week, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and Ambassador to China Terry Branstad will be in China meeting with the Chinese. The U.S. officials are hoping to find solutions to the current trade dispute between the U.S. and China. Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley says it’s an important meeting but doesn’t see a resolution coming out of their initial get together.
He says it’s anyone’s guess when a trade resolution will be achieved but the importance of the meeting is highlighted by the fact China’s President will be attending.
Grassley says for a resolution to be met there will have to be give and take.
Earlier the U.S. placed tariffs against the Chinese on steel and aluminum and the Chinese responded with tariffs of their own on U.S. pork and soybeans.
