There may be a hitch in the Bi Lateral Trade Agreement worked out between the United States and Japan. Japanese officials says they want assurances President Trump won’t put on any tariffs against Japanese automobiles. Senate Finance Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley of Iowa says the President needs to sign the agreement and drop any move to put on tariffs.

The Japanese may be looking for a sunset clause in the trade deal to avoid any future tariffs, but Grassley says he’s working on legislation to limit Section 232 national security reasons for tariffs.

Grassley says the bilateral pact President Trump worked out is a good one for U.S. agriculture and needs to get signed soon.

President Trump is expected to sign the trade deal sometime this month.
