Iowa Senator Says Border Security Must Be In Any Immigration Legislation

The House this week is taking up immigration reform legislation. Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley says for that type of measure to get through the Senate would need to strip citizenship addition from the bill and make sure the border is secured.

He says its critical the President make sure our borders are protected and that hasn’t been the stance of the Biden administration.

Grassley says the only way a path to citizenship could be included in any bill passed in the Senate for immigration reform would be through some type of compromise.

While the House and Senate have different views on immigration reform, the Executive Director of the Iowa State Dairy Association Mitch Schulte says it’s possible to approve an ag labor bill that includes both border security and citizenship for immigrant workers.
