Democratic House leaders threw out an amendment passed the Agriculture Committee that would provide aid to farmers and ranchers hurt by the Derecho storm. Iowa Republican Senator Chuck Grassley says he intends to revive it and will introduce it in the Senate.

He says funding shouldn’t be an issue as there’s usually money in the Federal Emergency Management Agency funds to handle natural disasters such as the Derecho however the Democratic House leaders aren’t willing to help those producers hurt by that storm.

Grassley says neither of the Democratic House leaders are following the President’s idea of unification and working in a bipartisan fashion on the Derecho legislation.

Grassley says the House Derecho amendment offered by Iowa freshman Congressman Randy Feenstra did garner bi partisan support in the House Agriculture Committee.
