When Senators return from the August recess next month, they won’t likely take up tax extenders legislation or a highway bill until October. Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley says in September they’ll be busy debating the Iran nuclear agreement, cybersecurity and appropriations measures. He says following that, they’ll take up tax extenders and the highway legislation.

Grassley expects the House to approve a long term highway measure in September and send it to the Senate for consideration in October.

Grassley says he’s basing the legislative schedule he outlined on statements he heard from Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.
