Iowa Senator Expects Farm Bill To Be Top Ag Topic For Lame Duck Congress

Discussion on the new farm bill will likely be the only ag agenda issue for the Lame Duck Session of Congress. That’s according to Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley who says there’s a remote chance trade could come up.

Grassley says whatever comes out on the farm bill in the lame duck will either involve a full five year measure or a one year extension at the least.

Grassley says the last time he spoke with Senate Ag Chairman Pat Roberts negotiators on the farm bill were at a standstill and he hasn’t heard of any further movement on the measure since that conversation.
