Iowa Senator Disappointed Amendment Left Out Of COVID Aid Package

The Senate passed a $1.9 trillion COVID Aid package over the weekend but defeated an amendment that would have revived disaster aid for Iowa farmers hit by last August’s derecho. Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley offered the amendment as says he was disappointed that not one Democrat Senator voted for it.

He says the opposition to the amendment was a strict party line decision.

Grassley says it’ll be difficult to bring the disaster aid back with a stand alone bill, the only option is through an agriculture appropriations measure.

Grassley says the problem with waiting for an appropriations measure is it won’t happen until several months down the road.
