The Trump administration is in the final stages of proposed changes to the Renewable Fuel Standard which could include cutting back on the number of waivers granted to refiners. There is however no guarantee that will happen. Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley says those waivers need to be cut back or eliminated so the RFS law is followed. He says he’ll ask for EPA administrator Scott Pruitt to resign if that doesn’t happen.
The Senator says if those RFS waivers are continued to be granted the intent of the RFS isn’t followed.
Grassley says Pruitt must follow the President’s policy as it relates to the Renewable Fuel Standard.
The Trump administration also promised to lift the Reid Vapor Pressure rule to allow the year round use of E15. Grassley says if the waivers stand up, then that defeats the purpose of year round use of E15.
