The Iowa Senate Government Oversight Committee has approved and sent on legislation to limit eminent domain in the state. Carolyn Sheridan, founder of the Preservation of Rural Iowa group which backs the measure says she’s optimistic about its chances of getting final legislative approval.

Sheridan says the most important component of the bill requires three quarters of the needed easements for project to come voluntarily from landowners.

Sheridan says she expects more action on the measure next week when it goes to a House Committee and the full Senate.
