Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey joined President Trump and Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue at the White House Tuesday for a Farmers Roundtable. Northey was one of more than a dozen farmers and agribusiness representatives asked to join the discussion about economic development, job growth, infrastructure and innovation in agriculture and rural America.
As part of the Roundtable, President Trump signed an Executive Order establishing an Interagency Task Force on Agriculture and Rural Prosperity.
Northey says during the meeting the President did reiterate his support for renewable fuels.
Northey says the Executive Order also focuses on easing the regulatory burden on agriculture and a common-sense approach to food safety. Northey says he has not been asked to join Perdue’s cabinet, but would consider a position at USDA.
