Iowa Renewable Fuel Association officials back a measure now being considered in the Iowa Senate that would increase the availability and use of E 15 in the Hawkeye State. Iowa RFA Policy Director Grant Menke says the legislation if approved would up the tax credit for E 15 over the summer time period.
Menke says part of the need for the legislation came about because of a quirk in federal rules that need correcting and can be done at the state level with this measure.
Menke says the legislation is an attempt to allow retailers the opportunity to offer E 15 year round. He says E 15 is cleaner burning that E 10 and has better evaporative emissions so putting in a state measure to correct the federal quirk would be advantageous.
