Last week, Iowa Renewable Fuels Association Executive Director Monte Shaw testified in front of the Senate Subcommittee on rural development and energy. Shaw spoke to the panel about the importance of the Farm Bill’s energy title and the need to adequately fund those programs.
He also stressed the importance of the RFS as part of U.S. farm and energy policy.
Shaw urged Senators not to weaken the RFS but instead make sure it’s implemented with the renewable fuels volume levels Congress intended.
Shaw says he also shared with the panel the importance of the REAP program and making sure shortcomings are corrected in the B-CAP program which helps growers use stover for second generation ethanol.
