It was a different legislative session for Iowa republicans this year. They were able to gain the majority in the Senate last November, giving them control of the statehouse.
Senator Randy Feenstra of Hull says it was a major change….

Republicans were able to push through a bill banning most abortions after twenty weeks. Feenstra says it was what most voters wanted……

There were some lawmakers that wanted to push a law to challenge the Roe vs Wade Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion. Feenstra says that may come in the future…..

Legislators also had to make significant budget cuts, and are looking at lower tax income for next year too.
