Iowa Congressman Dave Loebsack has introduced the Renewable Fuel Utilization Expansion and Leadership or Re-Fuel Act.  The measure creates a competitive grant program to assist fuel retailers with investments in renewable and alternative fuel and energy sources.  Iowa Renewable Fuels Executive Director Monte Shaw says the bill provides consumers choices at the pump and more access to renewables.

Shaw says the legislation will encourage fuel and energy diversity and deliver cost saving options to foreign fossil fuels.

He says Loebsack’s bill replaces the popular REAP, renewable energy assistance program that was left out of the farm bill due to the attack of oil company lobbyists.

Shaw says another benefit of the Re-Fuel Act is it encourages job creation and economic stability.
