Iowa State lawmakers resume their 2020 session on June 3rd. When lawmakers return, the Iowa Renewables Fuels Association is urging them to approve a pair of measures, House File 2279 and Senate File 2403. Renewable Fuels Association Policy Director Nathan Hohnstein says those bills extend and modernize the fuel tax differentials for E-15 and higher ethanol blends and B-11 and higher biofuels blends.

He says the pandemic has had a tough impact on biofuels and getting these bills over the finish line would help recovery efforts for the industry.

Hohnstein based on how these bills were received in committee, there’s a good chance of them getting passed.

Hohnstein says the other benefits the legislation brings is that it puts millions of dollars back into the Road Use Tax Fund each year for vital infrastructure projects.
