The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association submitted comments on the proposed Renewable Fuel Standard volumes for 2018 and 2019. IRFA Executive Director Monte Shaw says they want the EPA to follow Congressional intent and set the volumes at 15 billion gallons for corn based ethanol.
He says they recommended the agency to raise the cellulosic ethanol level to 384 million gallons in the final rule and increase the biodiesel level to 2.75 billion gallons.
Shaw says the biodiesel level must be increased to give the industry certainty going forward.
Shaw says his group understands the EPA’s RFS levels for 2018 and 2019 is only a proposal and the hope is the final rule will honor Congressional intent.
