Iowa Renewable Fuels Association Disappointed With Final EPA Supplemental RFS Rule

Thursday, the Environmental Protection Agency released its final supplemental Renewable Fuel Standard rule setting blend levels for 2020. Iowa Renewable Fuels Association Executive Director Monte Shaw says President Trump had a chance to restore the integrity of the RFS for farmers and biofuels producers but failed to do so and left it up to the EPA to make their own determination.

He says the EPA needs to provide certainty to the biofuels industry and their supplemental rule doesn’t do that.

Shaw says the EPA needs to immediately post Department of Energy recommendations, past, present and future on their small refinery exemption dashboard.

Shaw says the EPA needs to account for small refiner exemptions by using a three year rolling average of actual refinery exemptions granted.
