Iowa received $3.5 million from USDA’s Regional Conservation Partnership Program Wednesday for projects to improve water quality. Iowa Ag Secretary Bill Northey says the cost share with farmers will support the Iowa Nutrient Reduction Strategy.
Northey says this project is one of more than 110 across the nation that will receive $370 million as part of NRCS’s new effort.
Northey is also pleased with Governor Branstad’s support for his state budget request for Iowa’s Water Quality Initiative. He says it will make a difference in how the legislature views the appropriation.
He says this builds on the $2.4 million and $4.4 million received from the general fund in fiscal years 2014 and 2015 to support water quality.
