The Iowa Department of Natural Resources has released its biennial report on water impairment, and it shows a 2-percent increase from 2016 to 2018. Iowa Pork Producers Association’s Public Policy Director Drew Mogler says the report is just one piece of the puzzle when looking at Iowa’s water quality. He says the pork industry has been and is continuing to implement practices to make improvements.

He says what DNR’s report shows is that all Iowans need to continue efforts to improve water quality.

Mogler says the state’s producers have done a good job in voluntarily addressing environmental concerns.

He adds the Iowa Water Quality Initiative is already addressing many of these problems.
