The Iowa Pork Producers Association is encouraging their pork producer member and their county organizations to donate pork products to local food pantries and food banks.  In what is known as the “pork pantry program”, Joyce Hoppes, Promotions and Consumer Information Director explains the donation program.

Hoppes says the need for food donations continues, as pork producers try to stem off food insecurity.  Hoppes says since the program started a week ago, the response has been terrific.

Hoppes says county pork organizations can apply for a grant through the state association to help implement a local donation program.
