Iowa Pork President Says House Stimulus Bill Important For Pork Producers

The National Pork Producers Council is giving support to livestock provisions contained in the 4th. COVID 19 stimulus legislation introduced this week in the House. Iowa Pork Producers Association President Mike Paustian says the direct aid along with compensation for euthanized livestock is something the industry badly needs and he’s hoping for passage of the bill.

He says every pork producer has been impacted by the effects of the pandemic so the sooner aid can get out the better.

Paustian says it’s imperative pork producers weigh in with Senators when the legislation gets to that body to see that it or some type of companion measure passes.

Besides the direct aid called for in the livestock provisions and the funding for euthanization, another important component is increased funding for animal health surveillance and laboratories.
