U.S. Trade Representative Michael Froman announced this week that an organic agreement has been reached between the United States and Korea. Under the deal, organic processed products certified in both countries can now be labeled as organic in either country. Organic grower Ron Rosmann who farms near Harlan, Iowa says this will help organic producers in both countries.
Rosmann says this agreement which calls for one set of fees, inspections and paperwork will simplify trade and reduce export delays.
Rosmann is hoping this trade agreement will lead to more farmers switching to organic agriculture practices.
Froman and Rosmann believe that this trade agreement serves as another foundation for future trade deals between the U.S. and other countries.
