An Iowa National Guard unit is being mobilized as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. Guard spokesman Greg Hapgood says the unit is based in Des Moines, but includes soldiers from around the state.

 

The guardmembers provide a variety of support to other soldiers.

 

Hapgood says the total soldiers from Iowa deployed will be somewhere in the area of 150 and 160.  Hapgood says this unit is typical of the types of call ups the Iowa National Guard now sees.
