Iowa National Guard soldiers prep for Middle East

Around 20 Iowa National Guard soldiers with a unit based in Davenport will depart this week for a mission that could have them away from home for up to a year. Colonel Greg Hapgood is spokesperson for the Iowa National Guard.

 

A public send-off ceremony is scheduled for Thursday at 5 p.m. for the soldiers with Company B, 2-211th General Support Aviation Battalion.

 

Many of the soldiers in the unit served in missions in Iraq dating back to 2010. The send-off ceremony on Thursday will take place at the Iowa Army National Guard’s Davenport Army Aviation Support Facility.
