Iowa Legislature Stuck on Budget

Iowa lawmakers are trying to wrap up their 2015 session this week but are at an impasse on the budget. Iowa Farmers Union President Jana Linderman says overall for agriculture, there have been some positives and negatives. She says she was hoping legislators would have made more progress in helping farmers improve water quality and conservation.

Linderman says on the positive side of the ledger, lawmakers are making progress on pesticide drift and local foods issues as well as considering limitation of eminent domain.
Linderman says she’s also pleased legislators approved a gas tax increase to help fund the states farm to market roads and bridges.
