By a unanimous vote, Iowa lawmakers in both the House and Senate passed legislation continuing funding for the states renewable fuels infrastructure program. Iowa Renewable Fuels Association Policy Director Grant Menke says in the measure passed Wednesday, nearly $2.4 million will be provided in fiscal year 2017 for the blender pump program.

He says retailers had record participation in the blender pump infrastructure program this year.

Menke says under the grant program up to 70 percent of the installation of the blender pumps is covered with a maximum amount of $50,000 per project.

The legislation passed Wednesday ends the current source of renewable fuel infrastructure funding, so the next step will finding a long term funding solution. Menke says that will be a high priority during the next legislative session.
