Iowa Legislature Passes Blender Pump Funding

The Iowa legislature has approved $3 million in funding for the state’s blender pump program. Iowa Renewable Fuels Association’s Policy Director Grant Menke says the program has grown substantially since its inception and has led to millions of dollars of investment in new pumps and equipment that provide higher ethanol and biodiesel blends to consumers.

He says the momentum for higher renewable fuel blends is at an all-time high.

Menke says the program lets retailers apply for grants to install or upgrade blender pumps.

He says also under the program the retailer agrees to sign a five-year commitment to offer higher renewable fuel blends. Menke says it’s a win for consumers, farmers, the state’s economy through more investments and for the environment.
