Iowa Legislature Passes Bio-fuels Bill

The Iowa legislature passed a bio-fuels bill on Tuesday allowing for an incentive for fuel distributors to add pumps that would be used for E-15.  Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig says the bill was a priority for Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds.

Naig says Iowans should also notice the difference in price when they fill up with the high blended ethanol fuel.

The Iowa Agriculture Secretary says the passage of the bill will definitely help corn growers with additional markets.

Opponents to the bill don’t like the mandatory clause, and livestock producers say it will increase the price they pay for corn used as feed.
