The Iowa State Legislature is busy at work with important agricultural legislation making its way through both the house and the senate. Iowa Farmers Union Lobbyist Threase Harms says they are watching a variety of bills in the final weeks of the session, including a hemp acreage bill which increases the number of industrial hemp acres a producer can grow from 40 to 320.

Iowa Farmers Union Lobbyist Emilee Harris notes the passage of this bill would make the state a prime candidate for industrial hemp processing facilities.

Harms says they are also watching the legislation known as Chose Iowa which is focused on promoting products made in the state.

Iowa legislative session is scheduled to end on April 19th.
