Iowa Lawmakers Disagree on Education Spending

Iowa lawmakers will take the long Easter weekend to reconsider one of the last roadblocks to ending the legislative session.

Republicans and democrats have been unable to agree on how much state aid to education should be increased. Democrats initially wanted four percent, while republicans have insisted on one and a quarter percent. After negotiations, democrats offered to meet in the middle at two point six percent. Republicans rejected that as well.
