Iowa lawmakers are faced with major cuts to the current budget.
Senator Randy Feenstra of Hull says the problem is worse than the Governor outlined in his “Condition of the State” speech….

The Governor said he would protect education, and health services from the cuts. Feenstra, Chairman of the Ways & Means Committee, says that puts huge pressure on the rest of the budget…..

The Governor said some state workers may be furloughed. Feenstra says they haven’t seen details of the numbers yet….

The cuts this year will be considered permanent, and won’t be restored in next year’s spending plan.
