A group of more than 1,000 Iowa landowners are opposing the Rock Island Clean Line Wind energy project that wants to build 2,000 turbines across Iowa.
Carolyn Sheridan who lives south of Spencer in Clay County Iowa is President of the Preservation of Rural Iowa Alliance. She says they have several concerns with the project and its possible detrimental effect on prime farm land.
Sheridan says according to Iowa State law, Wind companies may invoke eminent domain through what’s known as the franchise process.
Sheridan says there has been 1200 objections filed with the Iowa Utilities Board against the Rock Island Clean Line project. She says her group has hired attorneys and witnesses and will continue battling against the project.
