The Iowa legislature has completed its third week in session and the House Agriculture Committee have identified some bills relating to farmers’ markets and adding the terminology “soil health” for many conservation bills that previously are on the books.  Mike Sexton represents the Calhoun and Webster counties region and serves as the Iowa House Agriculture Committee Chair.  Sexton says the Iowa House Agriculture Committee is also working on a bill involving anaerobic manure gas digesters.  Another bill that has the interests of many farmers, but will not be introduced in the Agriculture Committee, but rather the Ways and Means Committee is the bill dealing with eminent domain for pipelines to transport carbon dioxide from ethanol plants to underground storage facilities.  However, Sexton says the Agriculture Committee will deal with another pipeline issue.
