Members of the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association along with 11 other ag groups in Iowa are expressing concern the Administration is backing down on its support for the Renewable Fuel Standard. IRFA Policy Director Grant Menke says a report out this week indicated ties between Pennsylvania Congressman Robert Brady and Vice President Joe Biden and their backing of an oil group in the Representative’s district and their wish for lower RFS volume requirements.
Menke says IRFA and the 11 other groups have written to the Vice President indicating their concern and asking him and the President to back the RFS as they had promised in the earlier days of their administration.
Menke says EPA released a proposed rule in November of 2013 to reduce volume obligations under the RFS. He says the final RFS rule for 2014 is set to be released in June.
