Iowa Governor Terry Branstad has signed a bill that supporters hope will help improve the identification and help for those with dyslexia. Dyslexia is caused by a unique brain structure that makes it difficult to read, write and spell. Michelle Hosp, the director of the newly formed Iowa Reading Research Center, says the new law will help students who have dyslexia.

The new law defines dyslexia for the first time.

The funding to help kids who are diagnosed will come from the overall education budget and delivers services to teachers and schools.
