In a news conference Wednesday, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds and representatives of Iowa renewable fuels groups, outlined their concerns over recent EPA proposals to lower the RFS volume levels for ethanol and biodiesel. Iowa Biodiesel Board Executive Director Grant Kimberley says the EPA administrator seems determined to reduce mandated biodiesel levels in the RFS by resetting the targets.
He says the EPA needs to follow the RFS statute when setting those volume levels.
Kimberley says the biodiesel industry is currently producing beyond what the RFS target levels are.
Governor Reynolds and Kimberley want President Trump to know that the EPA is jeopardizing his commitment to biofuels and thousands of American jobs. The Iowa Governor is traveling to Washington D.C. next week to meet with Vice President Mike Pence and EPA administrator Scott Pruitt to discuss their concerns.
