One of Iowa’s representatives on the Republican National Committee says “Never Trump” Republicans are being welcomed back.

That’s Republican National Committeeman Steve Scheffler of West Des Moines. This summer, Scheffler suggested Republicans who were publicly opposing Donald Trump were attention seekers who preferred burning down the G-O-P rather than backing the person who won the most votes in Republican primaries and caucuses. Now, Scheffler says it’s time for the G-O-P to unite and capitalize on Election Night victories and Trump’s Republican critics have a role to play in the party.

Scheffler is urging Republicans in the state legislature and Republican Governor Terry Branstad to pursue an “aggressive” agenda. Republicans will control both the executive AND legislative branches of state government when the legislature convenes in January.
