The Iowa Realtors Land Institute Survey shows farmland values climbed close to one percent from September to March hitting just over $ 6500 an acre. IRLI President Matt Adams of Clive says there were several factors that led to the slight increase including not much land for sale as well as low interest rates among those.

He says while the last six months showed a small increase, over the last 12 months, farmland values are still 2.8 percent lower. Adams says low commodity prices are a factor for that.

Adams is forecasting fairly strong land values going forward although weather could put a kink in that.

Adams says he thinks the land market has pretty well hit its bottom and he expects strength going forward.
