Farmland values and rental rates in Iowa are holding steady amidst the uncertainty of the trade war. Dennis Reyman with Stalcup Ag Service in Storm Lake says rental rates are now being negotiated and it will be difficult for landowners to raise rents with the continued low row crop prices and added unknowns tied to trade.
He says despite all that the number of land sales in Iowa so far in 2018 is up, largely due to the generational transition going on in farming.
Reyman says prices on those farmland sales have remained fairly stable and in many cases have exceeded expectations.
He says the rising interest rate climate is also having an impact on farmland sales and values and will going forward.
