The Iowa Farmers Union is opposing Governor Terry Branstad’s plan to use sales tax money intended for education for water quality projects. State Farmers Union President Jana Linderman says while they back funding water quality projects, they don’t think it’s right to rob Peter to pay Paul.
She says there needs to be a better proposal to fund water quality projects rather than just taking it from one source.
Linderman says Iowa has enough money to be able to fund both education and water needs.
Linderman says the money spent for improving water quality needs to be done in a well thought out manner that brings results.
