The Iowa Farmers Union just wrapped up a series of farm bill meetings across the state gathering input from their members as well as other farmers. IFU President Aaron Lehman says they’ve heard a variety of opinions on what should be in the next farm program.
He says they’ve had some lively discussions regarding the farm legislation and safety net programs.
Lehman says it’s a challenging time for farmers and ranchers and a lot of the feedback they’ve received hasn’t been focused just on Iowa.
Lehman says they’ll likely hold future farm bill meetings later this fall and hope to dedicate one of those sessions to beginning farmers and ranchers.
