USDA is projecting farmers in the U.S. will plant around 7 million more acres of soybeans in 2021 versus a year ago. That trend is also expected in Iowa, especially with higher soybean prices than a year ago. However, Iowa Soybean Association Senior Director of Research Ed Anderson says other determinants are the lingering drought and higher input costs like fertilizer, which may push some corn acres over to soybeans.

Agronomists also say farmers will also have to plant more soybeans in Iowa where corn was flattened last season by the derecho.

Anderson says to help farmers make the best decisions for their farm for the 2021 season, ISA will be holding two Innovation to Go Webinars in March.

They will be held March 9 and 11 from 8 am to 9 am you can register at the ISA website.
