Iowa corn and soybean farmers and renewable fuel board members are telling the Trump administration to make the EPA reallocate the lost biofuel volumes caused by the small refiner waivers. Kelly Niewenhuis, Board President for Siouxland Energy which recently idled its plant says the SREs are causing and have caused severe economic damage.
Daryl Haack is a corn farmer from Primghar, Iowa and is a Board member for Little Sioux Corn Processors. He says the lost biofuel volumes must be reallocated now as there’s been close to a billion bushels of corn demand lost.
Haack says at a recent meeting with Republican Senator Joni Ernst, their board members who are mostly Republican said they may vote against the administration in the next election because of these waivers.
Ron Heck, a soybean farmer from Perry, Iowa says biodiesel plants are also suffering from the small refiner waivers.
Niewenhuis, Haack, and Heck all want President Trump to up hold his commitments to farm families and restore integrity to the Renewable Fuel Standard.
