The American Soybean Association (ASA) presented Wayne and Ruth Fredericks from Osage, Iowa, with the 2022 National Conservation Legacy Award during the annual ASA Awards Banquet at Commodity Classic in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Conservation Legacy Awards program is designed to recognize the outstanding environmental and conservation achievement of soybean farmers. Wayne says one of his biggest drivers towards implementing conservation practices has been improving water quality.

To date, the Fredericks have been involved in over 100 replicated trials of water sample testing. He says every tile outlet is a good source for information to monitor nitrate levels.

The Fredricks also have seven acres enrolled in CRP dedicated to protecting Monarch Butterflies. Wayne hopes through his efforts he can educate and encourage others to utilize conservation practices on their operations.

Wayne also served as the president of the Iowa Soybean Association in 2016.
